Established in 2023, Xpress Music Group, Inc. is an independent record label in the Gospel music industry.

Founded by James C. Birdsong, Jr., a nationally known and respected voice in Gospel music and a member of the world-renowned famed Birdsong family, Xpress Music Group is already receiving attention in the Gospel music industry and the music world at large.

The winner of the Gospel Choice Music Awards, Mississippi Gospel Music Awards, Newsome World Awards, nominations for the Prayze Factor Awards, and consideration for the GRAMMY® Awards, Xpress Music Group will have a roster of aspiring and established artists in Gospel music, such as traditional, contemporary, praise and worship, quartet, choirs, and hip-hop on the national and global levels.

In addition to the Gospel music market, Xpress Music Group is expanding its reach into the CCM market. The label became a vision for Dr. Birdsong as an undergraduate student at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia. We are on a mission to take Gospel music to the next level of greatness while building a legacy for future generations.

James C. Birdsong, Jr. is without a doubt one of today's leaders and voices in the Gospel music industry and entertainment. 

A proud native son of the Bay Area, he was born and raised in Richmond, California. He continues to be an inspiration and an impact among people of all ages and nationalities around the world, especially today's youth.

A multi-gifted and talented Gospel vocalist, GRAMMY®-considered, Billboard chart topping songwriter, BMI publisher (Maine Avenue Music Publishing), minister, author, motivational speaker, promoter, record label executive, entrepreneur and youth advocate, his efforts have caught the attention, admiration and respect of politicians, community, religious, media, entertainment leaders and luminaries throughout the United States and abroad with a extensive resume of awards, honors, nominations, proclamations and resolutions, including multiple entries in Marquis Who's Who in America, and a congratulatory letter from President Joe Biden during his term at the White House.

An alumnus of Fairfield High School in Fairfield, California, Dr. Birdsong earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights University, a Graduate Certificate in Marketing from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University,  and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Leadership and Business from Kingdom Ambassadors Global University. 

He is an inductee on the Wall of Tolerance at the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery, Alabama, and the National Society of Leadership & Success in Miami, Florida. Dr. Birdsong is a member of national organizations in the music industry, such as the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy (SAGMA), the Gospel Music Association (GMA), the Gulf Coast Gospel Music Awards (GCGMA), the Gospel Artist Music Association (GAMA), and the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM).
